Write Jozi connects writers through the love of storytelling and a passion for words and ideas. Workshops explore a variety of genres, styles and formats, supporting creative goals and nurturing writing ambition. From literary fiction to plays, non-fiction to poetry – and beyond, whatever your personal writing project is, Write Jozi will help you bring it to fruition. All levels, all welcome!
Write Jozi is currently hosting a 6-Week Writing Course from July 13th-August 17th at the Book Nook bookshop in Morningside Manor. Sessions are in-person every Monday from 09:30am-11:30am, for six weeks, with options to submit weekly writing for feedback. Email Jacqui to book your spot! You can still join.

The Book Nook bookshop and Write Jozi hosted a cosy morning of creative writing on Monday June 22. Bookings were available on Quicket or in-store. Proceeds were donated to the SPCA.

What’s included in a flagship 10-week writing course? Everything a writer needs!
Whether you’re starting from scratch or finishing a manuscript, trying a new genre, writing poetry, journaling, figuring out a plot, recording memories for posterity, sharing wisdom, inventing something zany, or embarking on serious non-fiction, we’ve got you! Our tutorials are differentiated to ensure each participant’s vision is supported. At Write Jozi, we know our stuff. We’re published authors. We’ve been long-listed and short-listed for writing awards across several genres.
You can expect: 10 in-person sessions, comprising two hours each, as well as detailed feedback on the writing you submit weekly, and book coaching for the duration of the workshop. All materials and refreshments are provided.

Write Jozi Teenz is a creative space for teens who love to write – and who take their craft seriously. Mary Shelley was only 19 years old when she wrote Frankenstein! We believe any teen can write a novella, if it’s their dream. We offer writing inspiration with a difference, and an opportunity for Jozi teens to come together through the shared love of reading & writing.
Ages 13-17
Who are the facilitators?
We are two experienced writers, readers and teachers with a love of stories. Jacqui has degrees in English and Psychology, a Master's Degree in Writing, and is registered with the South African Council of Educators. She has taught English and Creative Writing in high schools for over two decades. Jacqui has written study-guides, manuals, blogs, and articles, and is working on her second novel. Susie is a best-selling author of children's books and has an Honour's Degree in English Literature. After teaching English language and creative writing, she honed her editing skills in women's magazines. She has worked as a copywriter and creative director in marketing and advertising.
